Commissioning
We make commissioning art work an exciting and simple process
The commissioning process – some typical questions
I'd like to commission some glass art. Where do I start?
For inspiration, head to our portfolio section where you’ll see lots of examples of work we have made previously. We’ve produced many different designs with an array of colour combinations, so there should be something you can use as a starting point. We can then adapt a design for colour, format and size to suit your space.
We pride ourselves on being truly versatile, so if you want us to start from scratch with an idea then provide us with a brief summary of your idea or email some photos of your space and we will suggest some options for you – studio@meltdesigns.co.uk or 01928 497735
I've seen a design I like but I would like some changes
Yes indeed, we have a wide range of colours available to us and can alter any of the designs from our portfolio to work with different colours and adapt the composition, format or size to suit your space. We can also send you samples of the glass so you can see their true representation and produce a sketched design so you have a clear idea as to how the finished work will look.
How long will the work take to produce?
Once we’ve agreed a design and taken payment we typically need four to six weeks to produce your work. This can often be less and occasionally more depending on the complexity of the project, but we will always let you know prior to fabrication and keep you updated if our estimate is likely to change.
Can I install the glass myself?
Most of our wall panels are simple enough to install with just a basic level of DIY, however we can deliver and install your work if you prefer. We’ll provide a quote based on your location and the nature of the work to be installed.
All of our art work comes supplied with suitable edge-grip or drill-through wall mounting fittings along with mounting instructions. The standard finish is satin silver anodised aluminium but a variety of other finishes are available (polished chrome, bronze, grey).
How is my glass transported?
For any freighted work, we construct a suitable timber case to ensure it arrives safely with our fully insured courier.
Can I visit your studio?
Absolutely! If it’s convenient for you to do so, come and visit our creative space in Frodsham, Cheshire. We always have examples of work on display as well as a vast range of colour samples and a kettle that is rarely cold. Just call us on 01928 497735 to arrange a suitable day and time. We don’t have set opening hours but can accommodate visits throughout the week and over a weekend.
What are the payment options?
We accept all major debit and credit cards (including AMEX) along with BACS payments. Once we have concluded any design work we ask for payment in advance of fabrication of your art work. Our online shop also accepts debit and credit card payments via a Paypal checkout (no Paypal account is required).
